Blogmas 15
Hello! Day fifteen!
Today’s Christmas activity idea for those low on space and time is: Making your animals comfortable during Christmas.
One of the themes of Christmas is giving, but sometimes, one can only give so much to humans. But with animals, it is never a waste to spend time with them, put effort into their well-being, and treat them.
I figure, since my cat lives indoors, the least I can do is make her indoor life as comfortable as possible. There is zero reason why her surroundings can’t be super comfortable for her.
The most baseline thing to give her are comfortable sleeping spots! My cat gets her deepest sleeps in the warmest, most private part of the house, which is my bedroom. But for a change of scenery, and to be part of the action, she takes naps in her catball during the day.
Here are some of my favorite cat bedding products:
Catball
Amazing! Your cat will know it's for them as soon as you take it out. Made in the USA. We are on our sixth catball.
L.L. Bean Washable Wool Blanket
Used this to wrap around catball while traveling in cold and drafty conditions. Very warm!
Target Fur Polyester Blanket
I think this is my exact model. Mine had a persistent odor, so I recommend a strong detergent and soak (but short gentle agitation to preserve texture) for the initial wash.
When it's cold, wool and plastic textiles are the way to go to stay warm. I use towels as liners for the catball; it's a great way to keep it fresh. (The towels are cotton but I think that's negligible.) Remember that floors get cold in winter and hot in summer, so elevation of any bedding is necessary. I put her catball on a couch.
It's also important for my cat to know that an item is exclusively hers. She gets disenchanted with an object if I start to use it. Oh, that’s not really mine anymore... She lets me be the human housekeeping: fluffing, dusting, changing the liner, but then I have to stop touching it hahaha.
Hope this can be of any use to your animal family members!
Merry Christmas,
