Journal 18
Hello! How was your week? In my area, children have been going back to school, so things have felt more lively on the streets. As far as my adult parent’s time off work, everyone is still alive. In between bouts of stress-eating and diarrhea, I have been doing some autumn organization.
Since I have officially run out of things to watch (I say watch but usually it’s more like play in the background to keep me sane and keep me company), I turn to a perennially replenishing type of content: sports. Since the most populous country is India, I am trying to learn about a sport new to me: cricket. So far, I have learned about the wicket (fun word) and runs. Women’s sport is very important for young girls, especially in conservative countries. If you would like to learn more, here is an interesting video: India the Business of Women’s Cricket
Sports can be great to watch actively or to have on in the background. When life is extremely stressful and your brain needs to be occupied, sports are perfect! One day, if I ever have a house with green space, I want to play badminton and volleyball.
I think forcefully occupying your brain with simple things is better than having anxiety or stress. It’s okay to get lost in something like sports or a comforting old show. Since everyone is so lonely these days, sometimes the characters in tv shows start to feel like old friends. As a kid, no one ever taught me how to deal with situations I could not change immediately, so all of my frustration went inside of me. In adulthood, it has been helpful to find comforts, aids, vices, and things to lean on when times are tough.
Every situation is unique. If you are having a tough time, I hope you find your own personal healthy way to get through it. Or if you are doing great, that is really awesome!
Please have a great week!
