Journal 25

Hello everyone! Hope you had a wonderful and safe week. What a crazy time it has been. We had another housing failure, which doesn’t even feel painful anymore. But then it does, and you have to distract yourself from falling into that dark pit of despair.

I have tried to enjoy a little of the beautiful autumn. I try to find special little scenes, like some bewildered blue jays getting the fuck out when a gigantic mass of crows moves in. These scenes I can enjoy right now. But sweeping autumnal scenes, like yellow leaves falling and swooshing everywhere in the wind so prettily, I find harder to enjoy. They make me feel things, and in a housing crisis, it’s hard to feel things. The blue jays are more like my buddies in the present going through the same crazy stuff with me.

I am very, very afraid of getting sucked into another round of holidays. But some life improvements: We purchased another DeLonghi Dragon radiator. There are two rooms in the house that get very cold, so now both can be warm. We bought one two years ago and it still works great. Very hardy.

Another fun thing: I bought some metal shelving (Hyllis) from Ikea to use for textiles, but decided to use it to store lots of used books instead. I'm proud of my used book collection. My favorites are old illustration books and magazines, crochet and knitting books, women's books, feminist books, cookbooks.

Thank you for reading. Please have a lovely week ahead of you!
