Journal 42

Hello from a very wet New Jersey. In the last 24 hours, we got snow, then rain, then fog.

Today, I assembled a metal Älganäs Ikea coat rack. The funky purple Bondskäret was my favorite, but it was double the price. I thought this one was a good value because you get multiple hooks AND a bucket! But like the metal Hyllis, the holes were not machined precisely so it hard to put in the screws.

Lately we have all been suffering from allergies. When the central heating is on, it seems to create so much more dust. If I have a house, I do not want any HVAC. Those ducts become so dirty and the residents can’t clean it– it has to be done by professionals with chemicals. I do not like that idea. If I had a house, I would like to be able to maintain and repair everything myself. But not everyone likes or can do DIY and that’s okay.

It’s difficult, a common situation, when men are over-confident that they can repair or build things. There are caulking jobs in this house that look like whipped cream. And how about women who are over-confident in their cooking ability? I was watching a cartoon, and there was a line, “Boys and girls can both do the same things. It all depends on their abilities and their personality.”

Thank you for reading and please have a great week!
