🇺🇸 July 4th Special 🇺🇸
Hello! Today was the Fouth of July holiday here in America. It’s a fun holiday because there is little stress, pressure, or expectations. It’s the opposite of Christmas. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, and you don’t necessarily need to see family.
A classic American way to celebrate July 4th is by grilling. That’s where I come in! :) I think my skill on the charcoal grill has improved. Even without the coal basket, I cooked these sausages from one set of coals from the chimney starter:
This picture is so cute, they look like cartoon sausages. And that is my grill! Hello grill!
We got these from a nearby store called the Union Pork Store. Recommended if you really like sausage! Recently we have been getting a hankering for their sausages, and today was a good occasion to buy some.
Our other food was German potato salad, peppers and onions, sauerkraut and pitas. Somehow, the theme became kind of German haha! Also fun was the asynchronous theme “yellow.” It’s fun to have untraditional food on holidays-- It shakes things up. Holidays can be really difficult if you have to relive the same nightmare year and year. At least new food can give you something different. One year we had a Szechuan turkey for Thanksgiving.
Later in the day, I FINALLY washed the new coal basket and used it once in the empty grill to burn off any chemical residue. Wow, what a difference. With the bottom vent open and top vent 3/4 open, the internal temperature of the grill stayed over 400 degrees for at least 25 minutes. I think it stayed hot even longer, but I had to come inside.
Thank you for reading and you I hope your week is going well.
